ABOUT US

HISTORY
The Anglican Diocese of Saint George was established in 2025 as a chaplaincy jurisdiction within the Anglican Free Communion International to respond to a growing need: the Church’s presence in the margins of modern life. As chaplains serve in places often overlooked—hospitals, battlefields, prisons, disaster zones, and institutions of care—a distinct ecclesiastical body was needed to support, endorse, and walk alongside them in their sacred vocation.
Named for Saint George, a symbol of courage, faith, and protection, the Diocese was formed under the episcopal leadership of Bishop Brent Whetstone, with a vision to embody the Church’s mission in “all places,” especially where the wounded, the weary, and the searching dwell.
Rooted in the Anglican tradition yet flexible for the demands of institutional ministry, the Diocese brings together clergy, lay chaplains, and postulants across a wide variety of contexts, united by a commitment to serve Christ wherever He is needed most. From its founding, the Diocese has stood not as a retreat from the world, but as a sacred bridge into its most vulnerable places.
VALUES
At the heart of the Anglican Diocese of Saint George is a commitment to serve Christ in all places—especially those marked by suffering, service, and searching. Our chaplaincy is shaped by the following core values:
✥ Presence
We believe in the incarnational ministry of being fully present with those in need—bringing the compassion of Christ into the hospitals, prisons, military posts, care facilities, and crisis moments of our world.
✥ Courage
Inspired by Saint George, we stand with strength and integrity in the face of adversity, bearing witness to the Gospel even in places of fear, grief, and conflict.
✥ Faithfulness
We uphold the Anglican tradition as received through the Anglican Free Communion International, maintaining fidelity to Scripture, sacrament, and the call to serve “the least of these.”
✥ Adaptability
We recognize that chaplains serve in ever-changing environments. We value reverent flexibility—ensuring that our liturgy, pastoral care, and witness remain faithful and contextually sensitive.
✥ Unity in Diversity
We embrace the diversity of those we serve and those who serve with us—clergy and lay, military and civilian, rural and urban—bound together by a shared vocation and mutual respect.
✥ Integrity of Vocation
We believe that chaplaincy is a sacred calling, not a secondary ministry. We affirm, train, and endorse chaplains as vital agents of pastoral care and spiritual healing in the world.

VISION
The vision of the Anglican Diocese of Saint George is to be a bold and compassionate presence of Christ in every place where people suffer, serve, or seek meaning.
We envision a chaplaincy that is deeply Anglican, courageously missional, and pastorally present in the world’s most vulnerable and volatile spaces. Whether in moments of crisis or quiet care, our chaplains stand as sacred witnesses to the love of God and the hope of the Gospel.
We strive to:
-
Raise up chaplains equipped theologically, liturgically, and pastorally to serve in diverse institutional settings.
-
Strengthen the Anglican witness in the field of spiritual care through faithful worship, sacramental integrity, and ecclesiastical oversight.
-
Accompany those on the margins, proclaiming that no place is beyond the reach of grace.
-
Build a community of belonging for clergy, postulants, and laity who feel called to minister where church and world meet.
In all things, we pursue the path of Saint George—marked by courage, service, and unwavering trust in Christ.
